Description

Baby Marrow, also known as zucchini or courgette, is a fast-growing warm season crop loved for its tender, versatile fruits.

The young fruits are harvested while small and delicate, but if left on the plant they can grow up to 50cm long.

Easy to grow and highly productive, baby marrows are a favourite for home vegetable gardens.

In the Kitchen

Baby marrows have a mild flavour and soft texture, making them perfect for sautéing, roasting, grilling, baking, or spiralizing. They are widely used in Mediterranean and modern plant-based dishes.

Cultivation & Harvesting

Baby marrows thrive in full sun and rich, well-drained soil enriched with compost.

  • Sow from spring to mid-summer once frost danger has passed
  • Plant seeds 1m apart in warm soil
  • Water regularly and mulch well
  • Feed every 4 to 6 weeks with an organic fertiliser
  • Harvest fruits when 10 to 15cm long for the best flavour and texture
  • Regular harvesting encourages continuous production

For ongoing crops, sow new seeds every 4 to 6 weeks.

Health Benefits

Baby marrow is low in calories and rich in fibre, vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. It supports healthy digestion, heart health, hydration, and healthy blood sugar levels while providing valuable nutrients for skin, eyes, and overall wellness.
