Built inside a hollow tree stump, this fairy house is covered with berry laden Ivy which clings to the walls, and the windows are made within the holes left by fallen branches, with one very special heart-shaped window. By day the frosted windows shimmer with subtle glints of many colours, and at night they allow just enough soft light through to illuminate without being harsh. Light also filters intriguingly through the cracks in the walls adding to the magic. Shelf mushrooms conveniently provide steps up to the chimney on top, where white daisies bloom with abandon – because fairies just can’t resist flowers. A white pebbled pathway leads up to a beautifully decorated green doorway framed with white pebbles and a pretty hanging lantern, and tiny mushrooms spread between rocks in the mossy ground below, because fairies adore mushrooms.
This bespoke fairy house is crafted with polymer clay on a recycled glass jar. It is painted with acrylic paint before being sealed, and is finished off underneath with felt material to prevent scratching of surfaces. It is perfect indoors or under covered patios, but is too delicate to be placed outdoors where it is exposed to the elements.
When moving your fairy house around, treat it with care and pick it up using flat surfaces – not by pressing down on any protruding parts like flowers, leaves or small mushrooms as this can cause breakage. It’s tougher than you may think but treat these more delicate parts as you would glass.
