Description
Golden Pillow Jackfruit (Artocarpus Heterophyllus) has a unique fruit shape, which can resemble a pillow or cushion. The flesh has a sweet and juicy flavour which has been described as a combination and used in various culinary dishes, desserts, and snacks.
The most commonly consumed part of the jackfruit is the flesh, or otherwise, fruit pods, as this can be eaten when ripe or unripe. The seeds are also safe to eat as they can be added to sweet or savoury dishes, not excluding desserts and curries.
The Golden Pillow Jackfruit is a tropical fruit tree that can reach a height of up to 15-20 meters . It produces large, elongated, oblong fruit weighing between 15 to 30 kilograms (33 to 66 pounds) or even more. The fruit’s skin is green when unripe, turning yellow or brown as it ripens.

Position
The Golden Pillow Jackfruit is suitable for tropical and subtropical climates and prefers temperatures between 20°C to 35°C. Provide full sunlight for optimal growth and fruit production. Jackfruit trees require plenty of light. It is extremely sensitive to frost and will not do well in drought.
Soil Type
Jackfruit trees are not fussy about the soil conditions, and grows well in sandy and rocky soils. Plant it in well-draining soil with good fertility, and ensure proper spacing to accommodate its large size.

Watering
During warm weather and the growing season, water your jackfruit tree generously 2 to 3 times a month. Jackfruit trees enjoy a constant source of moisture, but they cannot tolerate wet roots as this will prevent them from bearing fruit.
Fertiliser
To ensure good growth and fruit-bearing, jackfruit trees need high nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Fertilise every 1 to 2 months while the tree is young with a high nitrogen fertiliser or manure.
Use our slow-release nitrogen-rich Berry/All plant fertiliser. For young plnts, apply 1 teaspoon every 4-5 months.
Use our Volcanic Rock Dust to give your jackfruit tree the required magnesium.
Pruning
Prune the tree to maintain its shape, remove dead or diseased branches, and improve air circulation. Remove any dead or crossing branches and any foliage or small branches that sprout on larger branches.
Harvesting
Golden Pillow Jackfruit will take approximately 3 years to bear fruit, so patience is required for the first harvest.
Harvest the fruit when it is fully ripe, which is indicated by a change in skin color and a fragrant aroma.
